Another day..

Did you have a good Memorial Day?  A nice and needed day off for most people, I'd assume.
We had a busy one - on Saturday I went with Shannon to the Chanhassen Dinner Theater to see Hairspray!  It was so much fun - and my first time to the Chanhassen!  I had a blast and it was good to finally catch up with my cousin since she had been married almost a month and I hadn't even heard about her honeymoon yet!

Sunday we spent the hottest day of the year (so far) at the Twins game - sweating.  The Twins lost... yada yada.. tell you something you don't know, right?  It was so stinky muggy outside and our seats were directly in the sun - what a day!
boyfriend and me at the game.  This picture made it on the big screen when they show fan pics!  I almost peed I was so excited!

Monday we went up to my aunt and uncles new lake home in Lindstrom, MN.  It is about 50 minutes from our house and it's a perfect place for them to live happily ever after together!  My aunt made pealla - yum!

Now it's Tuesday - I'm at work.  Sadly, 4 days wasn't enough.  I still hate it here.  Like, before I even walk in the door I hate it here.  This morning I walked up to the door to find this:
Yep - it is what you think it is
a dead bird... on the sidewalk.
Then... the company we share the building with has some very nice people who work for them - all of whom talk to me when they walk by and ask me how my weekend was and ... well, I feel like they genuinely care about knowing this stuff and that it's not just 'office talk'.  Even though a minute of conversation with them is not enough to make me feel less lonely, I'll take what I can get.  One of the guys brings me this:
Rhubarb Custard
I'm a sucker for anything rhubarb.  It was the nicest thing anyone in this building has done for me.  I'm super emo lately too, so it almost made me cry.
I was talking to my dad this morning - he called me at work bright and early - and just talking to him about how much I hate it here and other things like Father's Day... I was tearing up.  After I got off the phone with him, I had to go into the bathroom and I just bawled for a couple of minutes (no one else was here yet, but I figured it was better to be safe than sorry).  I'm not preggo, don't worry, just emo about a lot of aspects of my life right now.
I was laying in bed last night, not able to fall asleep and I just started to cry... then it dawned on me that I haven't had a good cry in some time.  It felt good, but as soon as I realized it, I stopped.  So that was lame.

On a brighter note: I have lupine in my yard.. I think I've told you this - here are a couple pics:
Purple

Pink
The plant with the pink flowers has several more flower stalks growing, so I'm anxious to see how it all comes along.  Lupine HATES to be transferred/transplanted... so far, I feel like they are doing okay.  Fingers crossed.

I have my camera today, so hopefully I'll get some New York pictures up?  I wouldn't bet on it... OR it might just be a post of pics... unedited.

Other than that... I've got nothing.

Valentine's Day + Random

I'm crabby right now.  So I'm going to post about something that made me happy.

My valentine's day last week.
I got flowers at work:

Then I got home to a boyfriend... who left work early to surprise me!

Then, we made salt roasted salmon, my choice, and it was delish!  Steve said his didn't get all the salt brushed off, but I thought it was amazing.  Basically, you crisp the skin of the salmon in a hot pan, cover it with salt, and stick it in the oven to finish it off.  Yum!

This weekend my kitty was sick again - he had a bad episode on Friday.  I took him in on Saturday... so I was kind of bummin' all weekend and stayed close to home for the most part.

I met up with some ladies that I've been meeting with for the past couple months; Kristi, Dana, Heather, and Tanya... we went to brunch and I pretty much stuffed myself.  Not the good kind of stuffing though.  Is there a good kind?  Dana has a photo or two of us... I'm waiting to see it before I post anything, but we basically burned off all the calories we consumed just in laughs while trying to take this picture.  I make it sound epic, but it might suck.  Stay tuned.

I turned my facebook off on Thursday ... and I've re-activated it again today.  Call me weak, call me stupid, whatever you want.  I like having a way to know about the people I care about, facebook gives me that.

I'm gonna go back to being crabby now.

New Years Weekend 2011-2012

First, here is a photo of our Christmas tree - we both like the look of solid color light strands - we picked white this year because we got a bunch of hand-me-down Christmas stuff and there happened to be enough white to do our tree:

Next, moving on to New Years Eve weekend -
Wednesday night of last week, Steve started to feel like he was coming down with something, sure as shit, on Thursday (his birthday) he came home from work, sick.  Needless to say, we needed to rethink our wild weekend for something with less alcohol and more sleep.
We went out for Steve's birthday on Thursday, with Jeff and Linnea, to Benihana - for those not familiar, it's a hibachi style restaurant, where they cook the food in front of you.  Good stuff I tell ya.
Then Friday, we went out for my aunt's retirement, to Osaka, another hibachi restaurant.  Another night of good food, but not a lot of drinking and not a late night.

Saturday, we went to Olive Garden with Steve's parents, to celebrate his birthday... more eating!  ugh.  By Saturday I was sick of meat and pretty sick of chewing.
This was also New Years Eve - we decided to NOT attend my cousin's party and opted to stay home, just the two of us instead.  It was a pretty chill night.  Around 10pm, we turned on the TV to start watching ball dropping coverage, but the news was on and they were talking about a snowstorm moving through.  We promptly look outside to see it's snowing and had been snowing for quite some time.  It was beautiful snow too... the kind that photos are made of.  It was our first snow in weeks - we've been brown for the entire month of December.
I may have dozed off on the couch before midnight, but Steve was on the ball and woke me up to see the ball drop.  We were fast asleep by 12:20.

Sunday, we woke up with ambition ... breakfast ambition.  I really wanted to tackle Eggs Benedict, so we did.  For our first time, it wasn't bad, but I'd want to make it again knowing a few things we can do to make it better.
Sunday afternoon/dinner time we went over to Jeff and Linnea's for more food.  They made a pork roast in the crockpot - plus a bunch of different crack dips - so again, more eating!

On Monday we woke up and ate a light breakfast and then went to meet Jeff and Linnea for lunch at Pittsburgh Blue.  I got Sea Scallops Benedict- Oh yum!  We then went to an outlet mall in the area looking for winter boots at a good price.  We found a pair but, as usual, they didn't have my size - so I arrived back home with no boots.

I feel like the weekend was full of eating, full of Jeff and Linnea (hopefully they don't end up with Steve's bug), full of movies, and full of relaxation.

Movie's watched this weekend:
Red
The Sound of Music
Lethal Weapon 3
Big Fish
Avatar

Photos from the weekend:

Boomer was more than happy to have us home all weekend.  He normally hates when things are on top of him, but I took the blanket out of the dryer and laid it on him, he looked up at me and then snuggled in and fell right back asleep.  He LOVES to be warm.

As I type this on Tuesday evening, Steve is still a bit congested but he said it feels like it's finally starting to drain, which means in a short matter of time, he'll be all better.  Stay tuned next week for when I'm sick and blogging about what an amazing job Steve is doing taking care of me (payback, the good kind).

In other news, I'm hoping for some positive thoughts, prayers, whatever you have to offer.
Two things going on right now - one of my cousins has melanoma, they've been working to get rid of it by removing skin and lumps, it was going well... but over the weekend I found out it's spread to her lungs, liver, armpit, shoulder, and her thigh.  She's 25.  How incredibly awful.
In addition to that, Steve's mom has been making several trips to the Mayo clinic here in MN - I don't want to get into great detail about that as it's Steve's personal life and not mine, but his mother is an amazing person and she could use thoughts and prayers as well.
We're hoping to keep our family around for all of 2012.  Thanks to all in advance.

Weekend 10/15-16/11

My weekend was a lot of things - exciting, nerve-wracking, relaxing, busy, sexy...

On Saturday Steve and I woke up, ate breakfast, and then watched Little Shop of Horrors while we drank our coffee.  I haven't seen that movie in years, like since I was little, and while it's completely awful, it's pretty entertaining!  The rest of the day was pretty chill.. I tried to do some yard work, Steve did a lot of yard work, I didn't want to do anything or eat anything that would make me feel bloated for Sunday.  So it was pretty low-key overall.

Sunday I woke up, ate a semi-light breakfast, drank coffee, took a shower, relaxed for about a half hour and before having to leave to go get my hair and make-up done.  Krysten and I did our boudoir shoot on Sunday!    It was so much fun and I can honestly say I never thought I'd know Krysten on that level!  LOL... we pranced around in our skimpies like we'd known each other forever!  It was funny, but also very comfortable!  Britt at Render Photography did our photos (you can view some other boudoir on her site).  She was wonderful and very professional (and very preggers!)  I'm excited to see how they turn out and I promise to share some here as well.  Thinking back, there were a couple of poses I wanted to do, but never did - it was all such a rush and happening so fast... it just never crossed my mind!  Oh well, next time, right?
post photo shoot
When I got home Steve was up on the roof painting... I was obviously too pretty to start painting and there wasn't much left to do.  A little bit later he came knocking on the window and threw his hands in the air to imply "Victory!" He finished!  Our house trim is all painted and we did it all ourselves!

We obviously had to celebrate - even though it was a Sunday night, my face was too pretty to not go have a cocktail.  So we had a shot of tequila, dinner and then went to Bennigan's and I had a martini (or two).  It is so good to finally be able to cross that shot off our list!  Now... we have to start tearing apart our pink bathroom tile to find a leaking pipe; fun shit, eh?

Oh.. and the Vikings lost last night.  Surprised?  Didn't think so.  What a horrible season.

Weekend 10/1-2/11

On Friday - I kicked ass cleaning - I clean my gma's apartment, I cleaned our basement bathroom (top to bottom) and I cleaned our upstairs bathroom (top to bottomish).  We then went to Red Lobster with my grandma, my dad and his wifey.  We then came home and Steve took on another weekend of making homemade margaritas; this time using freshly muddled grapefruit and oranges.  They were not as good as the margaritas he made the weekend before.  Overall, it was a good night!

On Saturday, Steve and I went to Taste! which is an event put on my MSP Mag.  Basically food and wine tasting, held at TCF Bank Stadium (where the Minnesota Golden Gophers football team plays) - what a beautiful venue on a beautiful day.  They even had some of the Minneapolis food trucks outside giving away samples - which was fun for me as I don't work downtown, so I really have no way of trying these places!  I had high hopes for taking pictures of EVERYTHING, but it turns out most of the time I had wine in one hand and food in the other... so you're left with just these:

Food Trucks

Beautiful Stadium!

Gophers Locker room - it is HUGE!!

CELEBRITY SIGHTING - Eric Perkins - one of the strangest guys on TV, I threatened to ask for an autograph, but chickened out.  Imagine if I met a real celebrity!

all the people!

Sushi from Aji Sushi in Hopkins - delish! (couldn't find a website to link to)

We were given a glass (to keep, yay!) and a tasting notebook to write down all of our tasting notes - I think I wrote like 3 things down.

Saturday night there was a surprise 30th birthday party for my dear friend Abbie - I don't have any pictures with her, but I do have one of myself with my other dear friend, Amanda (with bunny ears, never gets old people!!):

On Sunday, Steve and I decided to partake in some of the Parade of Homes Remodeling Showcase on our way to Minnehaha Falls.  Not only did we see some stuff worth remembering, but we also added to our list of dreams - so many things we could do to our home.  In the midst of it all, we stopped at an antique store in St. Paul and purchased a nice Pyrex casserole dish (aka hotdish dish) that looks exactly like this and matches our antique Pyrex mixing bowls and we never actually made it to Minnehaha Falls.  It turned out to be a great day!  Tatertot Hotdish was waiting at home for dinner!  yum!
Oh, and the Vikings lost again... bringing them to an amazing low of 0-4.  That's zero games won and four games lost, for those who don't follow.  What the fuck Vikings - how am I supposed to have a blog with football in the title if you can't even give me something to write about?!  I'm still a fan and always will be (us Vikings fans never set our sights too high), but I'm already setting my sights on next year, as per normal. ;)  and here I thought it was just Childress holding us back....

So yep - that's the weekend, in a nutshell.
Tonight I'm meeting up with Krysten, Dana, Kristi, and Kim for dinner in St. Paul - it should prove to be a good time, right ladies?!

One last question to direct you in your commenting: if you ordered ~$50 worth of stuff from a website and received those items only to receive them again a few days later (aka double shipped)... what would you do?  No one has contacted me from the business saying they messed up...

My weekend

What have I been up to this weekend?
Friday I went to the dentist - no cavities!  WOO-HOO!

Saturday - Steve and I rented a Boom Lift from Home Depot; this is not ours, but it's the exact same one (found the picture on Google Images).
and I got in that bitch... and spent the entire day up there - scraping trim, sanding trim, priming trim, painting trim.  Here is a picture of me taking a break while mid-air (I was standing in it most of the day):

We seriously painted all day.  We woke up and ate breakfast, I got a killer stomach ache, and we were out painting by like 10am, I think.  We had to return it by 8:31pm, we didn't eat again until after it was dropped off - Perkins (breakfast) was dinner.  I tried to drink a glass of wine afterwards, but it just put me to sleep.

Sunday was forecasting rain, so we planned to sleep in off the bat.  There would be no painting this day (thank God!).  Got up, ate breakfast, went to Dunn Bros. to get my first ever Pumpkin Spice Latte.  I was a bit let down - I couldn't taste the pumpkin... Steve could... so maybe my taste buds are sick.  Vikings game began and was looking good!  Then, Steve went in the kitchen to start getting our dinner ready (ribs), but we had bad meat and by bad, I mean rancid.  My smeller was obviously bad on Sunday, because I couldn't smell much; Steve wanted to vomit.  Having his heart set on ribs for dinner, he ran to the store to buy more - upon his return he had a bottle of bloody mary mix and pickles!  What a guy, right?!?!
2 bloody's later I'm feeling GOOD!  He then decides it's time to switch to margaritas - the homemade kind (freshly squeezed lime juice, agave nectar, orange bitters, tequila, ice and a salted rim!)  YUM.  We had 2 of those as well.
All this while watching the movie 300.
Ribs for dinner at about 7:00 or so... Emmy's on TV... safe to say we had a pretty darn good day!
We were off to bed at about 9:00pm... probably to sleep around 10:00pm ;)

In all, it was a good weekend - productive and lazy all wrapped into one!

What did YOU do this weekend?!

Go enter my first give away and make me feel like less of a loser with the few followers I have.

Sushi, Wine, and Wicked

Since I rarely ever post photos of sushi on my blog even though it's part of my blog title... I figured I should post something to prove that I do, in fact, love the stuff!

On Saturday night Steve and I had a date night of sorts.

We had tickets to go see the musical Wicked and we decided to grab a nice dinner before hand.  Now, we rarely plan ahead to say... make reservations in advance... so we jump in the car bound for downtown Minneapolis and I start calling restaurants in the area... full... full.. full but the patio is first come first served... ugh.  So I call Seven Sushi and Steakhouse and they have availability!  I make a reservation and we are on the way!

We decided that getting a bottle of wine made more sense being that we had a couple of hours before the show and it's obviously cheaper than buying by the glass.  We order 14 Hands Cab.  I've heard of this wine amongst friends and they seem to rave about it, so why not:

Seven is a steakhouse and sushi restaurant.. so I opt for sushi while Steve decides he is in the mood for steak.  Since everything on the menu is a la carte he will just order the steak and have some sushi as his side.  What a smart boyfriend I have!  Best of both worlds.
I don't have a picture of his steak, but I did get this lovely shot of my sushi plate after a few bites were gone.  I usually don't like taking pictures of my food while I'm out to eat, but with my new phone I'm trying to do it more.. since it's easier and less noticeable.
Yellowtail Sashimi, Salmon Nigiri, White Ninja Roll (spicy tuna, asparagus & avocado wrapped
in white tuna garnished with tobiko and
sesame chili oil), Denver Roll (spicy salmon with cucumber and avocado,
wrapped in salmon topped with house
chili sauce and green onion), Spicy Tuna Roll.

Since I've been sating Steve I have branched out and started to eat spicy (hot) foods... something I never use to touch for many reasons, with fire in the mouth being the top reason.  Slowly but surely I have developed a taste for it and often times find myself craving spicy things.  Ordering sushi with this new taste for heat opens up a world of possibilities!

I do have a picture of the stage for Wicked - but I can't post it because this blog is not private and I could probably go to jail for taking it.  They were very strict about pictures of the stage.  However, my facebook IS private (well, private to the public anyhow) and I have posted the picture there if you care to see the stage.
Let me just say that this show is simply amazing.  It was my third time seeing it and I'm still blown away by how absolutely beautiful it is.  Steve even kind of raved about it and he hates The Wizard of Oz; flying monkey's and green witches don't sit well with him.  I'd recommend it to anyone who is interested in the story OR The Wizard of Oz.

Have a great week people!  (more trip posts on the way!)

I LOVE Holiday Weekends!

July 4th has always been one of my favorite holiday's  - it's usually a family affair as my grandma was born on the 4th of July and we usually get together to celebrate it.  Especially having the day off of work, it always just works out.  I always keep my weekend open until I head the family plans, then plan around that.

This year we were to celebrate gma's birth on Friday the 2nd... then the rest of the weekend was free!  There was lot of things we could do, lots we talked about doing, but overall we didn't do that much... and sometimes that's okay!

Some highlights of my weekend (photos to come, soon):

  • Mastering the skill if baking and making 2 Buttermilk pies for my grandma's birthday celebration
  • Getting a BEAUTIFUL necklace from my amazing boyfriend
  • Having a blast on Friday night; out Nordeast with good friends and great family
  • Grilling sockeye salmon
  • Winning $43.00 on one horse at Canterbury Park (on a $2 bet)
  • Deciding that having my boyfriends arms around me during fireworks was more important than photos
  • Sleeping (way) in every day!
  • Getting a first coat of stain on 2 frames (and having the most important one look better than I hoped)
  • Enjoying a lovely dinner with boyfriends parents (Steak, Potato, Corn on the cob)

A Funeral and A Wedding

Thursday I went to Davina's funeral.  It was good and it felt good.  There were a ton of people there, it was amazing to see that many people and know that they had all been touched by Davina in one way or another.
Afterwards, myself, Pam, Nick and Mark went on a drinking binge... in honor of Davina and her life... or so we said.  It ended up being a great day and night.  Pam and I ended up alone that night in our drinking and had a lot of fun but kept in focus why we were together that day.

Friday I was hung.over.... like a lot.  It was a bad day.  I did manage to meet up with boyfriend and his co-workers for some sushi rolls and his boss made me have one cocktail, ugh.  It hurt, but I got it down.. cause I'm a trooper!

Saturday I had to begin a one night stint of dog sitting for my dad, who lives about an hour away.  Steve's cousin also was getting married that day, so we drove up to my dads to do the dog thing, got ready and turned right around and drove to the wedding.  It was a fabulously happy wedding, outdoor (weather was perfect), great old music, no alcohol... it was just such a positive experience!
The wedding was over around 8:30, so we stopped at the liquor store for a bottle of wine and made our way back up to my dad's.  We just sat there, quite perfectly, drinking wine, eating popcorn, watching Man vs. Food and talking the night away.

The goal for Sunday was to get up, make b-fast, and get on our way to the car show at the State Fair grounds.  Well, I wasn't feeling well the next morning (not because of drinking, just felt off), so we took our time and finally made it to the car show around 3pm :/
It's okay though, the car show was closing up, so we didn't have to pay to get in and there were still plenty of old cars to see!

Happy Monday :)

What a LONG Weekend

[disclaimer: this post got out-of-control long... so make sure you have a minute if you plan to read the whole thing!]

Sooo.. last week I posted asking for your thoughts on ways to spend my 1 year anniversary with my boyfriend.  As it turns out, sometimes planning is overrated.. especially when you end your work week with a migraine!
Quick recap of last week:
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday {after-work} were spent helping Steve pack and move out of his apartment.  This meant, right after work we started working.. this meant late nights.. this meant exhausted body and mind.  Thursday was to be the same as it was the last night we had (he had to be out by noon on Friday)... well, round about 2:30pm on Thursday, while at work, I started to get a migraine.  Needless to say, I didn't help Steve at all on Thursday.  I went home, slept for 2 hours, ate some dinner, and pretty much went back to bed.  So then let's move on to the rest of the weekend...

Friday:
I woke up and had to get to my Grandmas to clean (for those that don't know, I clean my gma's apartment every other Friday), so I ate a bowl of cereal (which hurt my head) and decided not to drink any coffee (YIKES!).  I took some Excedrin migraine right away in the morning, as the day after a migraine is often times as bad as the day of.  Half way through cleaning, I started to feel a little bit normal again.
I spend the day pretty low-key around the house, managed to get some cleaning done but didn't over-do anything.
Steve worked until forever o'clock on Friday night and I joined him after work while he had a bite to eat.  We then went back to my house and kept it pretty low key, watched the end of the Twins game... after not having any coffee that day and just being overall exhausted, I went to bed while Steve stayed up and worked (boo to working over the weekend!).

Saturday:
Saturday we tried to sleep in, but only slept until like 9am or something.. eventually made our way to the kitchen to make some delicious breakfast sandwiches to which I finally proved to my boyfriend that fried bologna on a breakfast sandwich is the BOMB!  We then got ready because I had a surprise in mind for him.. it was a beautiful day out, so why not get outside!?  He had to work for a little bit, so I hung and waited, then we got in the car and I directed him to this place; it's a mini golf course/sculpture garden... it's a pretty neat little place (local readers, you should check it out sometime).  It was fuggin HOT outside, so after mini golf we decided to head over to Maynards on Lake Minnetonka for a patio cocktail and a bite to eat.  We're kind of stupid when it comes to eating sometimes... I'm trying to eat less, so I ate half of my sandwich and Steve ate his entire sandwich.  Then I remembered that there was a sushi place near by that a friend told me about once, so I looked it up on my Google maps and it was like 2 blocks away... so Steve said "wanna go get a roll?"  DUH!  He knows that I love me some sushi... so even if I'm stuffed (which I was not at this moment), I will say "Of course!".  Steve was stuffed after eating his whole sandwich, but managed to get half the roll down.  THEN (again, remember we're not smart)... we see a little ice cream shop across the street and decided we needed to get a malt (we may be obsessed with malts too)... however, we agreed that sharing one is the only way to do this.  Steve left the experience stuffed to the neck and I was just full.

Afterwards, we make our way back to our area and decide that we were going to get ready and find a place to sit on a patio and drink.  On the way home we decide that buying a Powerball ticket is necessary and said if we win, we'd fly to New York the next day.  Somehow the night ended up getting away from us and before we knew it was 9pm so we run a few errands, get ready, and walk to the closest bar and proceed to get drunk, then walk home.  At some point in the night we decided to look into getting a hotel room in St. Paul for Sunday night.  So we got back home and both opened our laptops.. did some research.. and left it with nothing finalized before going to bed. Oh, and we did not win the lottery :(

Sunday:
We wake up and go to the grocery store to buy breakfast supplies, make food; this day was scrambled eggs with extra sharp white cheddar shredded over them, a bowl of fresh raspberries, a half of bagel and a couple sausage links (I love breakfast!).  We then proceed to waste away half of the morning/afternoon looking online for hotels, now in Minneapolis.  Finally decide that we'll book a room at The W - Aloft Hotel.  After that decision, we make a reservation at Sea Change for dinner.  We then pack our bags and hit the road to Minneapolis (a whole 25 minute drive).  We get to the hotel, check-in and begin to get ready... make our way to Sea Change and do the thing there.  We eat and leave feeling a bit underwhelmed (great food, just... wanted more), so we begin to search out a place nearby for some cheesecake!  We stop by The Old Spaghetti Factory and commit to having dessert there, plus a martini.
Being that it was Sunday night, and a holiday weekend, there wasn't much going on around town... at least at the little end of town we were at and we were traveling by feet, so we didn't want to go too far (I had already changed into my flip-flops as I picked a bad pair of heels to wear).  The Aloft Hotel has a bar called the W xyz bar, so we picked to hang there all night.  It's pretty awesome, especially on a beautiful night because there is an outdoor 'lounge', which we took full advantage of!  The bar had board games all over to play, so I grabbed Mad Gab and we sat there, just the two of us in a cute little corner, reading cards and trying to figure out what they say.  If you've never played Mad Gab, you should try it.. it's a HOOT!  It ended up being a wonderfully simple and perfect night spent together.

Monday:
Monday we woke up and I was easily hungover!  Steve woke up and went and sat in the shower for like... ever!  We were flipping pages in one of the local food mags in the hotel room and I got a craving for a burger, so we decided to hit up The Bulldog N.E..  We finally made out way out of the room (around 11:15am).. Now, I've been to The Bulldog a handful of times and I always leave there amazed at their burgers... but on this specific Monday I left absolutely BLOWN AWAY!  Because Steve and I skipped breakfast I ordered the Good Morning Burger, which is a Kobe beef burger with a fried egg, thinly sliced ham, and American cheese all served on an English muffin.  I shit you not.. this is the absolute best burger I have ever {ever} had! My god, I didn't want to stop eating it, but I was so full, I had to leave a couple bites.  I'm not sure how I'll ever order another burger there.

We then made our way to The Mall of America because I'm in the market for a new chain necklace... we spent a good amount of time out at the mall; shopping, people watching and eating cheese.  We also stopped at the Ikea store on the way out and decided that Steve needs to buy a house that has a massive kitchen!  Both of us were tired out of our minds (lack of sleep and not much for caffeine), so on the way home I proposed the idea of making grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches for dinner.  Steve said sure and suggested we also get tomato soup to go along with it.  I agreed.  Once at the store, we quickly dismissed the soup and bought sweet corn-on-the-cob instead!  YUM-O!

  • Quick little side note; Microwaved Corn-On-The-Cob: a super fast and super perfect way to cook corn-on-the-cob: peel each ear and wrap in wax paper, twist the ends to seal closed as best as possible.  Stick them in the microwave for a few minutes; I do 4 ears in the microwave for 5 minutes total and it's almost always perfect, you may need to add an additional minute, but only do it one minute at a time extra.  Unwrap, butter, salt and enjoy!!
We ended the night catching up on a couple episodes of a TV show and then going our separate ways.

All-in-all, it was an awesome weekend!  We relaxed, we ate, we drank,, we walked a lot, we may have shared a few laughs, and we had a wonderful time together!  Did we do anything I had 'planned' in my head?  No.. but sometimes that is absolutely okay.

Today marks the 'official' one year date since Steve and I became 'official' - So Happy Anniversary Baby; thank you for a wonderful weekend!

I can't believe the weekend is over already, it went by so fast!  Now this coming weekend is going to be one big blur... and I can't wait!!

{Is it sad that when I do weekend recaps I have to check my bank account to help me remember what I did?}

AND.. it just dawned on me that today is June 1st, which means another Photo Hunt for the month!  Can't wait to see the list.. :)
