Lots to come

So I made it back from the Black Hills.  After being in a car for what feels like ALL weekend... I can assure you that I'm sane.

Posts detailing the trip coming soon.. I'm thinkin it's going to look something like this:
Black Hills, Day One: The {long} Road There
Black Hills, Day Two Part One: Devil's Tower
Black Hills, Day Two Part Two: Road, Deadwood, Crazy Horse
Black Hills, Day Three Part One: Wildlife Loop
Black Hills, Day Three Part Two: Mount Rushmore
Black Hills, Day Three Part Three: The Cave
Black Hills, Day Three Part Four: Rushmore at Night
Black Hills, Day Four: The {long} Road Home

I'm hoping to make the blogs about the road more exciting than the trip itself, but in all reality... they'll probably be short posts.

Stay tuned... I have a lot of real life catch up to do but I'll get to blogging and posting pictures ASAP!

Just Thursday... 8.26.10

Link up with Murdock's Mama if you want to play along!!

Outside my window.. it's kind of cold... ugh, I feel like a loser saying that, but it's been SO hot as of late, but 48° is a bit too chilly for me!

The time is.. 8:06a
Today I feel.. excited for the weekend
I am thinking.. that we are no where near ready, but I do some of my best work at the last minute!
At the moment, I am thankful.. that Dana asked me to be part of their fantasy football league!  Too bad I'm out of town this weekend during their draft :(
I am going.. to kick ass today
I am wearing.. khaki pants, Tri5Soul black shirt, teva flip-flops (I summer staple)
I wish.. that Brittney would win Big Brother
I am reading.. NOTHING!
I am working on.. job packets at work (I long for the day I can answer this question while NOT working)
I am hoping.. that people will buy tickets to the reunion soon... we sold our first 2 last night (besides the organizers, who don't count)
I am hearing.. computer humming... and my nails on the keyboard
I bet you didn't know.. that I dislike raisins unless they are in cereal (raisin bran) or cinnamon raisin bread.
One of my favorite.things to do when I get home is change into comfy clothes and lounge.
My weekend plans include.[thursday] Packing up the car and grocery shopping [friday] up early, pack cooler, hit the road all the way to Devil's Tower [saturday] drive from Devil's Tower to the Custer State Park area (maybe do Rushmore/crazy horse this day) [sunday] Rushmore/crazy horse (if we didn't on Sat.) explore some caves, see what the area has to offer. [monday] Up early, pack up camp, drive back to the 'sota!

Random v10.12.2

Kind of a follow up to the comments that came yesterday on this post plus a few extra thangs...

On the reunion thing - the girl that I know is going to try and solicit people - I'm okay with it.  If she tries to sell me on something or business, I'm just going to say no thanks, I have a job.  Then walk away.  I just feel bad for the people that are so nice that they can't say no and walk away.  The other crappy thing about it is, I'd really like to be able to talk to her because she was a nice person in HS, not my BFF, but not someone I hated (and I hated a lot of people).  So... I'm going into it with an open mind, especially considering she hasn't purchased a ticket yet AND she RSVP'd maybe on Facebook.

The Hawaii skydiving thing... it looks like it's a no-go and let me tell you why.  First things first, I have sky-dived (sky-dove?) before.  In Wisconsin back in 2007.  Here, have some pictures (gotta love social networking sites to find pictures from the past), click to enlarge:
So anyhow, it's not for fear of doing, even though I did throw my back out of whack that time, I'd take that risk again.  It's more of a itinerary thing.  We fly into Honolulu and land in the evening (5pm) on the 2nd, so obviously that day is out.  Then we stay the night and have a full day to explore Honolulu/Waikiki Beach (the 3rd), stay the night again and take off to Maui on the 4th.  The skydiving is on Oahu and clear on the other side of the island from Honolulu, if they pick you up with their shuttle, you're not returned until 6 hours later, so it really is a whole day event.  Basically we'd be giving up Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head and all the other things there are to see in Honolulu just to jump out of a plane.  Tonight, when I see a star (you know, star light star bright first star I see tonight)... I'm going to wish for Maui to get some sort of skydiving adventure, before we arrive.

I thought there was more to talk about... ugh.. sorry.

SO... on Saturday, Steve and I drove, with his dad and sister, to see his grandma who had fractured her pelvis.  It was a 2+ hour drive and on the way we found an old school metal merry-go-round.
Well.. I've been searching for this type of merry-go-round for quite some time, so I was pretty stoked to find one.  I jump out of the truck with high hopes of taking a spin and having it be just as amazing as when I was little. I grab it and start to run around, I bang my knee as I jump on and sit there while it spins.  Steve comes over, grabs it and starts running around to make it spin faster for me.  I started to feel icky, so I begged him to stop it knowing if I let it spin the rest of the time, I'd puke.  Eventually he did.  I now have a HUGE bruise on my knee and no pictures of the merry-go-round (I was so excited to get on it, I left my camera in the car, even though Steve kept saying... take a picture of it, take a picture of it!  Good boyfriend, bad girlfriend.

Our trip to the Black Hills this weekend... we are camping, real camping in a tent and whatnot, we like it and it's wicked cheap.  Yesterday I had a bomb idea to, rather than hard boil eggs and bring them for breakfast, we'd make camping omelets!  How you ask?  Let me share something amazing with you.  Did you know that you can make omelets in a zip-lock bag?

You need a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag
- Crack 2 eggs (lg or extra-lg) into the quart size Ziploc bag (not more than 2 or it doesn't cook throughShake to combine them.
- Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc.
- Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake.
- Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.
-  Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for 13 minutes. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water. (Do not overcrowd the pan – they really need room to have water all around them.)
- Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.

Random v10.12

Isn't it awful to say that someone else's happiness causes my heart pain?  I shouldn't be this way or even care... but it's who I am.  Only time can make these feelings go away and I'm not going anywhere... so time I have.

I'm ready to play fantasy football, I have been for 3 years.  Last year, being next to Steve and his computer all season really solidified that for me; I know how it works, I know what to do, I know who to pick.  Problem being... I don't know how to join a league without having it be strangers.  I don't want to play with strangers.  lame.  I feel left out.

I hate that we've had a link posted for my reunion for just shy of a week and only 2 of the planners have purchased; myself and another.  WTF is wrong with people?  We have 53 'Yes' RSVP's on Facebook... you save $8 by buying in advance, you can pay online OR by check.. whatever is convenient for YOU.
One girl sent me a message on Facebook this weekend asking if she'll be able to view the guestlist... I'm pretty sure she is going to come to the reunion trying to solicit something... I recall her finding me on Facebook and telling me about her 'business' and wanting me to be a part of it.  That outta be fun.  NOT.

Toying with the idea of Skydiving in Hawaii, though we probably won't do it as it's on a different island from where we'll be staying.  The flight over for a day would only add tot he price of the actual jump.  I think that would be amazing.

I've had to hear a story {3 times} today about a guy who cut his foot off with a lawnmower.  That shit grosses me out and I don't need to hear it once!  I want an office with walls.

Going to Rushmore/Crazy Horse/Devil's Tower on Friday... I'm excited to go, not excited for the drive there and back.

Mac and Cheese for lunch today.  I wish I had hot dogs.

Am I crabby today?  It appears as though I'm successfully making my way there.

Meeting Bloggers

So yesterday Krysten arranged a get-together amongst MN/WI bloggers.  Minus the fact that it was over 90° and the humidity was probably 200%... it was a great time and nice to finally meet Krysten along with some other local bloggers.  We walked around the zoo for a bit, made our way into the butterfly exhibit (which was awesome!), and cooled down as often as possible!  I brought my camera and kind of wish I hadn't; having it around my neck all afternoon was gross...  I did manage to take pictures of butterflies and these:

Sara and Krysten with a monkey, obviously.
The group of us (don't look at us though, it was HOT!)

I do think we could plan something in cooler, less humid weather and be able to have a bit more fun!

Until next time ladies.. it was a pleasure!

Here's one of the butterflies... if only they would all STOP moving and pose for photos!  (at least i was able to cross one thing off my August photo hunt list)
