As I've been pinning this afternoon, I came across these silly little ... I don't even know what to call them... and figured it'd make a good topic for this Wednesday's Meme.

I call it the King Bite
Everyday at work

That's all she wrote folks - hope your Wednesday is going well - I think Steve and I are off to the great Minnesota get together (State Fair) tonight!

What do I sound like?

You know how when you hear your own voice on a recording and you think ugh, THAT is what I sound like?!?? Do you ever take it a step further and wonder what people think you look like based on your voice?

For example, at work, I make a lot of phone calls to schedule shipping pickups - so today when I did this the lady on the other end was very nice and we had a moment of chat while she opened the screen to schedule my pickup.  After I hung up the phone I couldn't help but think about what I sounded like to her.  There were a few jokes/jabs at our bosses and some small talk made...
Deep down I still feel like a kid - therefore I often think I sound like a kid too.  Someone who sounds like a kid shouldn't be taking jabs at her boss; should she?  I don't feel my voice is very 'adult'... HOWEVER, I've been told that my work voice is very soft and professional, once upon a time I was even told my work voice was 'sexy'.

Obviously the sexy part stuck with me and now I wonder if these people I talk to think they've called a sex hotline and they're just waiting for me to ask them what are you wearing?.

I always wonder what people on the other end of the line sound like - today's lady sounded to be in her 40's and I'm sure she was/is a smoker.  I pictured her as a ginger with wrinkly skin (from the smoking).  I also imagined her with a smoke hanging out of her mouth while she was scheduling my truck.

Just a strange thought I had this morning and was kind of curious what other people thought about it... I do understand that I'm a bit strange and sometimes have some 'odd' thoughts.  However, sometimes the things I think are 'odd' are actually common thoughts amongst my peers.

That is all for today, thanks!

I hate the news

Do you watch the news?  The older I get the more I realize that the news is poison.  It's like Cher said on Clueless:

Ok, so maybe that's not the best way to make a point, but it's pretty fucking true right?  The news has NOTHING positive to offer.. so why the hell should I watch it.  I get enough negativity on my facebook news feed, I don't need it on the real news too.  TV shows are one thing, they are not real and provide entertainment - the news is real life yo!

Take for example a couple of stories as of late:

  • Three juvie boys caught for an estimated $100-$200 THOUSAND dollar of damage for busting out car windows in St. Paul... why do these kids not have guidance?  No way with that many windows busted out can they claim this was some prank... and I hope they make these kids pay for it, not their parents - once they get jobs, take all their fucking money.
  • Divorce and death litters the Hollywood news - and if it's not that it's people comparing Kim and Kris' wedding to that of true royalty.  THAT is fucked up.
  • A man who decapitated his son because he was special needs and didn't want to take care of him anymore - on top of it all - he places the boys head outside in the drive way so the wife would see it when she came home.  This seriously makes me want to vomit.
  • Even the 'mother nature' news is sad: earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, etc.
I know this is just the world and it is what is it, but I'd rather be completely out of the loop when it comes to news than sit and watch this shit day after day.

I've just become fed up with the news.  I'd rather watch Jersey Shore and see Snooki and J-Woww get drunk and pee behind the bar.  While it may not be 'educational', it certainly makes me laugh AND it's not negative.

STOP all the damn negativity!!!!

Oh, How Pinteresting

google

So, I've been way hooked on Pinterest as of late, it's damn addicting.  Over at Krystal's blog, she's been doing this little feature on Wednesday's called "Oh, How Pinteresting" that she links up with over at The Vintage Apple.  Today, assuming I can figure out how to properly post my pins, I'm going to play along!

My theme for the week is my younger years... yesterday on Pinterest I went NUTS on toys from my childhood.. it was so much fun to remember these little bits of my life.  I hope you enjoy.

A few people/TV shows that I loved as a child:

Talent-less Ms. Perry

I hate Katy Perry.  I make no secret of this.  I think she is talent-less and annoying.

This morning I find out that she tied Michael Jackson's record for most #1 singles on the same record, at 5.  Not only does she hold the title of the first woman to do it, but she is now the only living artist to have that title. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!
We have seen some fantastically talented women vocalist in the past 10-20 years.  How is she the first, and only living to make this happen?!

At first, I'd listen to her songs and get them stuck in my head (and I'd probably dance along to them in my car)... but then it got to the point where I'm all wtf is this song, this is so stupid! and I now turn the radio off when she comes on.

Can someone help me understand this?!  I'd rather listen to Brit-Brit lip-sync or some awful rapper using auto-tune.

ugh.  that is all.

Random v11.5

So I have a few little bitty updates to throw at you, easier to do it this way than in many posts.

First though, if you haven't told me your favorite fair food, go HERE and do it now, because this bitch needs to try some new deep fried food/food on a stick!

Ok then, let's get this show on the road:
First, during the month of June my regular route home was detoured.  Now, I'm not big on following detours if I know a better way (the detours always slow me WAY down because of other people not knowing how to drive, obviously).  So on one of my many different routes home I found a red barn.  I've always had a small love of pictures of red barns, but had never taken my own... So I brought my camera to it one day, here is a small sampling of some tweaks I did to the barn:

Then came the 4th of July; on July 2nd, Steve and I went up to my dad's house to go watch fireworks on the boat - no pictures of fireworks, but a cute picture of my man and I:
and a cute one of the niece, who came with us to watch fireworks for the first time in her life - and she LOVED every minute of it!
concentrated pose, hence the tongue
And then my niece turned 4... yep - I've been an auntie for 4 years!  Seems like just yesterday she was born!

Yep - auntie (that's me) got her jumbo freeze pops... a complete win!

Can't forget Cayden, she's about a year and a half now!

sitting in big sisters chair!
I managed to get this shot of my niece, who was sitting in her new camping chair and being her usual silly self... and I just adore it - I think it's cute!
