North Shore 2011-July

I'm so far behind mentally, that I don't even know where to begin.

I think I've failed to show you photos of Steve and I's trip up North, right?  The good news is that I do have all my photos uploaded into a Picasa album - so I can show you without much thought!

First and foremost - we're FAMOUS!

Yep, that's right - we're hanging on the wall of a donut shop - be jealous!

We stopped a few places on the way up, remember, our state was in a shutdown during this trip, so State Parks were closed.  People we allowed to park on the road and hike in, but no driving into the  lots or to the trailheads.  Other than that - here is a nice sampling of photos from the trip:

Temperance River State Park

Looking out as it flows into Lake Superior

on Da Beach

Found some neat looking mushrooms

Cascade River State Park

Playing with settings, trying to master flowing water

another mushroom

Wayside Rest Stop, which was closed, but we walked in and down to the water anyhow

On the way to Canada, eh!  Bright and early, off to see Kakabeka Falls!

Holy crap - these falls are HUGE!

so beautiful!

again, trying to play with flowing water

we had lunch under this tree with Steve's parents

The fog was THICK on the North Shore

In Grand Marais, walking along the rocks

rock towers were all over!

My favorite pier

Gooseberry Falls, busy as ever, not a huge flow of water (this is the only way I've ever seen these falls)

My favorite flower on the North Shore!

Thick Fog - there is a tunnel up there, you can barely see it!

I promise I still like him.  My camera was strapped around my neck.. I was just trying to make sure my face was in it - no matter how scrunched it looked!

This makes me want to go to Grand Marais!! I haven't been in quite awhile. :) And Gooseberry looks puny there! Have you ever seen it in the winter? The frozen falls is pretty cool. Like time literally just stopped. Next time, (if you have more time) you should hike out to the Beach. The lookout is AMAZING.

This makes me want to go be in the North Shore so badly! I've been to all the places in your photos but I miss them. Your pictures are beautiful and makes me just love Minnesota!
