I hate the news

Do you watch the news?  The older I get the more I realize that the news is poison.  It's like Cher said on Clueless:

Ok, so maybe that's not the best way to make a point, but it's pretty fucking true right?  The news has NOTHING positive to offer.. so why the hell should I watch it.  I get enough negativity on my facebook news feed, I don't need it on the real news too.  TV shows are one thing, they are not real and provide entertainment - the news is real life yo!

Take for example a couple of stories as of late:

  • Three juvie boys caught for an estimated $100-$200 THOUSAND dollar of damage for busting out car windows in St. Paul... why do these kids not have guidance?  No way with that many windows busted out can they claim this was some prank... and I hope they make these kids pay for it, not their parents - once they get jobs, take all their fucking money.
  • Divorce and death litters the Hollywood news - and if it's not that it's people comparing Kim and Kris' wedding to that of true royalty.  THAT is fucked up.
  • A man who decapitated his son because he was special needs and didn't want to take care of him anymore - on top of it all - he places the boys head outside in the drive way so the wife would see it when she came home.  This seriously makes me want to vomit.
  • Even the 'mother nature' news is sad: earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, etc.
I know this is just the world and it is what is it, but I'd rather be completely out of the loop when it comes to news than sit and watch this shit day after day.

I've just become fed up with the news.  I'd rather watch Jersey Shore and see Snooki and J-Woww get drunk and pee behind the bar.  While it may not be 'educational', it certainly makes me laugh AND it's not negative.

STOP all the damn negativity!!!!

First, I love the movie Clueless.

Second, I agree with you. I don't watch the news but I listen on the radio. The kids blasting out the windows makes me sick. The murders of teens recently in N. Mpls is sad and OMG, I hadn't heard of the decapitation story until now. When you harm humans or animals like that, I do believe in an eye for an eye and he should be tortured as such. Poor kid. :(

I agree. It's funny because at work we have TVs and of course they're always turned to Fox News because the people in my town are all insane. Anyway, they all sit there watching the awful news and then they bitch, bitch, bitch. Like, really? You have NOTHING better to do with your life? It's gross.

And when you turn the channel...you see Kim Kardashian.

Completely agree. I posted a link on my FB awhile ago on a news anchor who lost his shit over the economy arguments and told everyone (much to their absolute shock) that if he were President he'd override the entire Congress and tell them to go to hell and basically how to get here. I seriously would vote for him because he's absolutely right. I think we need more people like in charge everywhere. :)

We need reminders like this. I'm an ex news junkie. Found out there is so much good stuff out here. Real people who write better than Today Show writers. Love you!

I was just thinking this about 10 minutes ago!

I've been reading the news more in the past few months to keep up with what goes on in the US, in Mexico and in the travel industry. I was a much happier person before I started reading the news!

One thing I've noticed is that news from other countries is much less "doom and destruction" than the American media. I've switched from CNN to BBC News because the British are less paranoid haha

I hate the news for all the very same reasons.... too much sad stuff going on. I haven't watched much in the past 3 years and I hate being ignorant about current events but at the same time, this stuff gets to me too much
