News Paper
With the economy today and many newspapers going out of publication; I feel it's important to not only have a newspaper for memory's sake but to also have a clue to what was going on in the news for the particular day. In 40 years time, a newspaper would probably blow someones mind - imagine how taken over by technology we will be in 40 years... a newspaper would be a huge blast from the past.
A Blackberry/iPhone
Simple really... to see how far technology has come in 40 years - right now smart phones are all the rage, seems everyone has one. Let's show the future where we are at in the present.
A List of "Current Events"
Current President, Current popular music, Current popular movies, current popular TV shows, current food trends, current fashion trends, current populations of large cities, price of gas, etc.
A List of "Future Predictions"
Basically things like "The world is going to end in 2012", "flying cars"... all the things we THINK are going to happen in the future... just like when I was little I thought the year 2000 would be just like on The Jetsons. These would be predictions of the world, not necessarily just my own personal predictions.
A Bottle of Reserve Wine
Why not give the future something to drink while their looking through the past?! Not to mention a bottle of Reserve sitting for 40 years... should I even continue?

Love your choices....and got a giggle out of the Jetsons thing. I always thought the exact same thing. Oh well....guess there will be no flying cars or jetpacks in OUR lifetime.
